Update: Xplora contacted me, sent me a new SIM card since others too, had had problems, and refunded 3 month’s subscription. Unfortunately, the X5 still doesn’t work. Will update again if Xplora is able to resolve this issue. I purchased the watch for a trip to Disneyland for gps tracking ability/safety reasons. It was an expensive ($170) birthday surprise for my daughter. I should have set it up before the trip, but as it was a gift, I gave it to her and attempted the set it up the night we arrived. I charged the battery and figured set up would be easy allowing her to use the watch once we hit the park. Two frustrating hours later I had FINALLY managed to set up a parent account on my phone, installed the SIM card, added her watch, installed the app…AND PURCHASED A WIRELESS SUBSCRIPTION @11.99 month. All so I could have access to the watch’s gps location, something I had not anticipated. My daughter and husband were anxious to get going so we we were all irritated by this point, but daughter was excited to play with her new watch. The interface was only barely responsive and it took several attempts for her to get it going. This was similar to the quality of something you’d purchase for 14.99. She finally managed to send me an emoji text, but as I had read, actual texts are not possible. She could also text using her voice, and I received notifications on my phone I had a message, but I was not able to retrieve the messages. She kept trying it in ride lines all day, but eventually got tired of sending me emojis, which was all the watch was able to do. Not that I could actually get them. I was so sad her exciting birthday gift was such a frustrating disappointment. I didn’t want to spend another day at Disneyland trying to update passwords and following other self help instructions so I told her I would spend some time fixing it once we got back home. She’d been so excited since many of her school friends already had watches. Lucky them, their parents bought them the cheap watches that actually work as they are intended to!! I work full time and hate dealing with electronics so fast forward to today, when after several frustrating attempts over the course of the year I have tried in vain to charge the thing and get it to work. I’m officially done. I am canceling the subscription and considering the $300 I’ve spent on this enough!! It is slow, unresponsive, says it doesn’t come with games, but the app is all about games they can’t apparently play on the watch, and I CANNOT GET HER MESSAGES or TRACK the watch!!!

      Updated review:
Xplora support has been very helpful. No phone number to call which is a pain so between emailing back and forth this has taken me 3 months to figure this out but now watch is in good working order. The company replaced the SIM card and now calling and texting works well. We turned off the WiFi on the watch so now the battery lasts all day vs going to 0 charge while my son is at school. Gps location is pretty accurate. Overall this watch is exactly what we needed and now after working through the “quirks” we are happy with it.

I am so frustrated with this watch. My husband and I both have our PhDs and cannot figure this out!
First of all, after activating the SIM card that was included with our watch, it took 5 days before it actually worked. Nothing in the instructions telling us that. It just randomly started working one day.
My son cannot receive calls when he is outside of our home. So basically the call function on it is useless. We are paying $ every month for the sim card that cannot receive calls. He was able to call me ONE time when he was away from home in a one month time span that was all that it would work. I will literally be sitting right next to the watch and call it and it won’t ring.
My husband and I both have to keep logging into the app everytime we go to check on a message from him or check his location. It kicks us off the second someone else opens the app. So annoying. And we could not get it to let me add myself as a guardian for a month….that option was just never there. Then all the sudden one day the option magically appeared. It’s like the watch chooses when to work (5% of the time) and when to not work (95% of the time).
Other contacts can text him but he cannot text them back which seems pretty pointless. And if he doesn’t see the quick blurb on his watch screen the second the text appears then it is gone forever.
I will text him, and my app will show that “the watch has a mrs message”. And when I go to the app to see the message it’s not there. It will show a notification that he got a new text but it won’t show up in my app. Maybe 60% of the texts sent and received will show up on my app.
The battery life is horrible. It lasts maybe 3-4 hours when he is at school. Then it dies so totally pointless if we needed it to track his location or contact him about something after school bc it is dead.
The customer support is ok….they are trying. But it takes a couple days for them to respond and we have been emailing back and forth for over a month now trying to figure out how to even use this watch.
The gps location is fairly accurate. Although I noticed one time we were testing out the sos feature and it showed him at a location that was about 3 miles away from where he was in our home….so that’s scary!!
The screen of the watch has a screen protector but my son did not have it for 2 days before it was totally scratched.
If anyone has any idea how we can get this watch to work please let me know! We are out of the amazon returns window at this point so we have this expensive, useless device. It’s so frustrating. I have wasted hours of my time reading the support page, other amazon reviews, and trouble shooting with the company over email.

Amazing gadget for our 7 year old boy. His favourite feature is the step count, we have daily competitions who can do more and i love that its encouraged him to be more active. It's so easy for him to use, he sets his morning alarm each day to get him up, it also has a parent app so I can see exactly where he is thanks to the GPS tracking and I can put it into school mode so it doenst disturb his learning. Overall I would recommend this to anyone who isn't sure that thier child should have a phone but still need to be contacted at any time as its just perfect. The only thing I would say needs some improving is the battery life but that might because how much he loves and uses it so much but he has it charging when his asleep so not a problem as such.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic watch!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 10, 2021
The battery life is fantastic averaging just over 2 days being used constantly to take pictures, make calls and send messages. It is so easy to use and my 4 year old manages to use the watch independently using all its functions, his favourite being taking pictures. The screen quality is brilliant and so clear with a brightness adjustment. My favourite part about the watch is the “school mode” meaning the watch can only be a watch during school hours which you can choose to suit yourself on the app. The app is also great and my son loves walking more now as he can see his steps and the coins he wins for walking which he can spend on games and prizes. Another great feature is that he cannot reply to a text unless the other person has the app, it also notify you when someone has called or texted the watch too. You can send pictures and videos to those who have the app as well. The tracker is really good being pretty much spot on most of the time a great feature to keep kids safe, you can also add safe zones. It also has an alarm so children can wake up on a morning on their own. You can change the watch screen and have many choices, you can add pictures to people on the app and the limited text functions are really good, you can also send emojis. My son has absolutely loved this watch. I bought a virgin SIM card just doing a sim only contract and making it so he can’t go over which has been fantastic. There isn’t one thing I don’t like about the watch and would say it’s suitable for 4 years plus.
